Jason Broekstra joined PLM Lake and Land Management in 1995 and has since become a seasoned expert at PLM. Jason currently serves as the Executive Vice President, Chief Operating Officer, and Corporate Board Member of the company. Becoming Executive Vice President and COO in 2024, Jason has made significant contributions across all facets of the company. He is ultimately responsible for ensuring all aspects of operations run smoothly, making effective management decisions, and supporting clients and staff as needed.

Jason oversees all PLM regions, working with Vice Presidents and Managers to provide insight, opportunities for efficiencies, client retention, and future growth of the company. His extensive expertise includes application techniques, staff development, pursuing new business opportunities, innovation, marketing, and networking throughout the United States.

Jason earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Biology from Grand Valley State University (GVSU) in 1995. While at GVSU, he spent a summer as an intern for the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, Fisheries Division. Jason has worked in all aspects of PLM, and under his leadership, PLM has become a leader in the aquatic industry, performing evaluations, treatments, new innovations, and developing a diverse, experienced, and educated staff to lead the way in sustainable application techniques and implementation methods.

Jason’s accomplishments include serving as past President of the Midwest Aquatic Plant Management Society, current President of the Michigan Aquatic Managers Association, and current Treasurer for the Michigan Chapter of the North American Lake Management Society. He also serves on the Michigan Inland Lakes Partnership and many other organizations throughout Michigan. Recognized for his contributions to the field, Jason was awarded the “2009 Applicator of the Year” award by SePRO Corporation and holds various application licenses.

Beyond his professional achievements, Jason is married to his spouse, and they keep active with their three children. Jason is an avid snowmobiler and enjoys fishing and hunting whitetail deer.
